Journal 5: Introductions That Make Us Care

She heard glass shatter downstairs. “Why isn’t the alarm going off?” she said in the shower. She wasn’t hesitant to quickly turn off the shower and lock the door. She picked up the toothbrush holder off the sink for protection. She had been showering when her husband broke her favorite china plate. She jumped out of the shower and quickly ran downstairs to see what had happened. “Oh no Honey. I can’t believe you broke this plate out of all the plates you could have broken.” He just stared back at her looking very sorry. He was gone from her life now, she had become a widow. She walked towards the bathroom door and opened it. She peered her ear out and listened to the ruckus that was going on downstairs. “Why is this happening to me?” She closed the door and tried walking back to the tub to hide. The floor suddenly creaked and she stopped moving. “I hope who ever is downstairs didn’t hear that.” She soon heard foot steps coming up the stairs and she began to shake. She quickly hid in the tub terrified. The door slammed open and she held her breath.

He broke the window with a rock, surprised that no one saw him. This house looked as if no one had cleaned it in weeks. All he needed was one more thing that was worth a lot of money so that he could pay for his 2 year old daughter’s operation. He picked up a vase and examined the details on it. He was rummaging around getting frustrated each time he looked. “I need something for Delilah, I can’t let my daughter die I have no one else.” He kept looking and finally saw something he could take, a beautiful encrusted diamond necklace. As soon as he was about to leave he heard a noise from upstairs. “Oh no someone’s home.” He crept upstairs to get rid of the problem. He opened the bathroom door and pulled a pocket knife from his jacket. He was going to stab the curtain but he paused and thought about his daughter and how this would affect her. Could he do it?
