Journal 7: Subtext Scene

Direct Dialogue
C: “Hey honey, sorry I'm late”. Carl said as he walked into the restaurant and put down his jacket, thinking about what him and his mother had spoken about earlier.
K: “Its fine honey, I knew you were at your mother’s house.” Kamilla said with a smile on her face. Why would his mom keep him so long if she knew he was meeting me?
C: “Yeah she said she misses you”
K: “Aww that’s sweet” Sarcastic smile. His mother does not really like me so I doubt she said that.
C: Giving her a Blank stare, why is she talking to me like that Carl replies “Yeah”
K: “How’s work been going sweetheart”
C: “Its fine just Bill and I are working on some new ideas that would make me happy.”
C: “But are you ready to order yet?”
K: “Yeah I guess” Kamilla said uncertainly
C: Sigh, How do I start this conversation? Pondering. “In these 6 years that we have been married I have yet to taste the joy of having calamari.”
K: “Well then order it”
C: “It’s not on the menu for the Chef so I’ll just have to wait to go to another restaurant.”
K: “What is up with your new found fascination with calamari?”
C: “It’s not new found it’s just that my friends at work all brag about tasting the joy that calamari brings. They have had calamari two to three times.”
K: Well then go get some calamari.” Kamilla said with a slight bit of attitude.
C: It’s not the same I don’t want to taste the sweetness of calamari without you.”
K: With a confused look on her face Kamilla thinks Sweet I don’t think Calamari is sweet “I'm sorry I'm just always busy whether it be work or things that come up during the week.”
C: “You never have time to get calamari, when will I taste the joy of calamari, when can I finally tell my friends I am proud that I have experienced calamari in its essence. When it’s too late and the resources to get it is no longer in existence. When!!!”
